Here's some possibilities:- Betting against yourself with high odds
- War Machine payout
- Bad, untested build

I'm wondering what happened to Te's leader between games 2 and 3...
First two games were great... worthy of the championships.

Don't know what the hell Te were trying to archieve in the 3rd. (anyone want to take a stab at it?)
1st and 2nd matches were both very nice.
Glad to see LuM deserved to be there, hope the best luck for them on their next match against WM ^^;
I am even more pissed at the skill decription of dark fury than ever... what the hell is up with the radar size? I even remember testing it myself (before the battle isle) as near by.

Just got done watching all three games in one sitting. The first two matches were great. However, erm... the third match... was anti-climatic... to say the least... =/
But, alas, congratulations to LuM for their win.

I'm sure they had some kind of logical reasoning behind it, even if it was only, "Hey, I doubt we've got a real shot at winning the grand prize: Let's go out with a bang, and have a real night out on the town in Taipei!"
More seriously, yes, the first 2 matches were great to watch, and regardless of how the third match went, Te definitely managed to remind us exactly why they desereved to be in Taipei to begin with.
We can speculate all we want on their decisions, but in the end, we'll probably just have to wait until they return to get the final word on it.

Yes, I'm really lost as to the logic behind that third game, also. If someone knows what the heck they were smoking, please post it here so I can get two of them.

I still think they were trying to second guess LuM. LuM didn't carry many interrupts in the first or second matches, so maybe they thought their spike could take down the mesmer (if, indeed LuM had one) and the monks...
But taking no enchantment removal, and a fair chance that there would be two prot-based LuM monks and a healer? Playing something without much practice, and something with such a simple counter as PS (and no counter counter-well, I didn't see any enchant stripping going on) with money and fame on the line...
I still think I'm not seeing a method to their madness.
The first two matches were great, though. I liked Te's movement in the middle of the first game (although I question one point where they split 3/5 against 2/6); I thought they had it until a couple of mishaps at VoD. And congrats to LuM.

I wonder if Te in game 3 was trying to do something more flashy, lively and obvious. Games 1 & 2 were really quite spectator-unfriendly, and I wonder what the reaction of the live crowd in the game show was to 35 minutes of warriors running around taking a couple of seemingly pointless swings then switching targets, admist a backdrop of confusing magical sparkles appearing around everyone every now and then. And then victory by just killing the GL in VoD.
I guess they gambled on being able to show off a cool spike-based victory with elem spells, but it backfired badly on them since they were unable to spike anyone out at all.

In case you haven't found out already, they were running a 6x Me/E Air Spike. With Dual Attunements, no less.

Easy to make fun of one of the 6 guilds that competed for the Worldchampionship?
Te took a riskfull approach. Needless to say, it didn't pay out for them.

Well, the build certainly would have surprised LuM, maybe throw them off. LuM's win in less than 10 minutes was an obvious wipeout of TE but the first 2 matches were extremely good.

Very nice comeback in the first match, I loved it.
Te didn't throw away the third game as people think. I've seen this build throw off many of the top guids in the past through observer mode. [Rift] flawlessed some of the top guilds with the same build just a few days ago, it's the element of surprise. It was a strategy, but it was also a trick build. And trick builds go one way or another. In this case, it didn't pay off. It was a pretty evened match at the beginning but LuM's trappers namely did an extraordinary job.
Kudos to LuM to take it slow even though their victory was ensured. There were a few opportunities they could have tried to kill off the GL and might have been succesful with it but it was clear they were calm and took their time to reach the point where they actually get a prize now no matter what the outcome in the next matches.

But that's just it Makkert. You don't take these kind of "risks" at the world championship level. This is a build you would run in tombs for laughs and giggles.
We can only speculate what went through their minds. Playing in unfamiliar grounds, tired over the long trip and 2 long games, having NCSoft/Arena employees and bosses looking over their shoulder, perhaps sensing a need to liven up things a bit for the crowd....blah blah... who knows.
Bottom line, congratulations to Lum. They proved in the first 2 games they are not a fluke and they deserved to be there. Good luck to them the rest of the way.

Actually I was mocking Riselle for deducing that Te ran the 6 Me/E caster spike in game three because the builds they ran before were "spectator-unfriendly" and wanted "to show off a cool spike-based victory" (his words).
As for my opinion on why Te decided to run a 6 Me/E build? A wizard did it.
(In other words, I have no clue)
I think we should wait until one of the guys from Te releases a statement, rather than this silly speculation.
